Island Hopping
After a ferry ride and drive through Bosnia, we arrived to our next destination, the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Having been there before, I knew what to expect, a beautiful yet overcrowded town. So I as soon as we arrived, I dragged us away from the crowd and went to my favourite spot in Dubrovnik, Buza Bar. I stumbled upon this gem during my first trip to Dubrovnik, the bar is literally a hole in the wall and is one of a kind. It sits perched on a cliff outside the town wall, and its “no frills” approach makes the view and the experience all the more amazing. Do check it out while in the area.
To avoid the Dubrovnik crowds, we decided to take an island tour the next day, and it was fantastic. The tour around the Elaphite Islands took us to 3 different islands in a day, Koločep, Lopud and Šipan. The islands are relatively quiet compared to the mainland, due to a strict no car policy, and are lined with cute fisherman boats and colourful flowers. To add to the experience, our Croatian captain cooked us fresh fish lunch right on the boat, it was amazing. One tip while looking into doing boat tours in the region, avoid the Pirate Ship tour, unless you want to share your experience with 200 more people on the equivalent of DisneyLand on water.
Stay tuned for the next stop on our tour, mysterious Montenegro.
